Course Overview
The Classical Texts Program (CTP) is a student-centred, text-based curriculum in the core sciences of the Islamic scholarly tradition. It is designed for students with a firm foundation in the rudiments of Arabic grammar and morphology, basic practice in reading unvowelled Arabic script, as well as a Farḍ ʾAyn level study of Fiqh & ʾAqīda. The CTP seeks to initiate such students into the tradition of reading, deciphering and contextualising short principial texts (Mutūn) in seminal Islamic sciences. The program facilitates the study of beginner-intermediate level manuals with varying depths of commentary, providing students with an overview of all the core sciences, while simultaneously deepening and expanding their competence in the Arabic language.
